Robert Mountjoy believes that when educators work together around a shared purpose, students thrive. As the former principal of West Side Elementary School in Rossville, Georgia, he helped his staff build a collaborative culture rooted in the core principles of a Professional Learning Community (PLC), with a relentless focus on learning, a commitment to collaboration, and a results-driven mindset.
Guided by the belief that every student has genius and can learn at high levels, Robert led his school to national recognition. Under his leadership, West Side Elementary became a National Model PLC at Work® School in 2020 and a Leader in Me Lighthouse School in 2021—becoming the first school in Georgia to earn both distinctions.
Before serving as principal, Robert worked as an assistant principal and special education teacher at both the elementary and middle school levels. His passion lies in helping educators create systems that foster equity, use data to drive improvement, and nurture the whole child through social-emotional learning.
Beyond his school, Robert collaborated with district leaders to help make Catoosa County Public School System a Model PLC at Work District, ensuring that every school shared a guaranteed and viable curriculum built on collective responsibility focused on student learning.
Today, Robert partners with educators across the country to help them rediscover their ‘why.’ Through professional development, coaching, and keynote speaking, he works alongside schools and districts to create lasting impact. From superintendents and leadership teams to teachers in classrooms, Robert equips educators at every level to lead with clarity, purpose, and passion.
Robert earned both a master’s and education specialist degree in educational leadership from Tennessee Technological University.
